The research question for this study is how education level, gender and social network affect migrant workers’ beginning monthly salaries for their first job in China’s urban cities. Our objective is to reveal the interplay of education level, gender and social network, which are to our own interest and to the core of the current academic debate, in determining migrant workers' incomes. Explanatory factor analysis is used to identify relevant variables for the regression equation, and a multivariate regression analysis is conducted to reveal the relationships among education level, gender, social network and migrant workers' beginning income for their first job in China's urban cities.
