The proposal presents students’ experiences in civic engagement through the use of testimonios, which have been devalued as valid methodologies. By using the Community Cultural Wealth Model to examine students’ testimonios, various forms of capital were identified, which in turn helped them succeed in hostile institutions and give back to communities of color. Student experiences can provide insight on the impact civic engagement projects have on communities, in addition their testimonios can help shape the public’s knowledge of the experience of Latino college students. It is our goal to engage with the audience in order to bring to light the social problems facing our communities, and to brainstorm ideas on ways to rectify injustices and solidify public education for all.
