A Missing Link? Contemporary Insights Into Principal Preparation and Training in Russia

Abstract

This paper presents the results of the Russian part of the international comparative study “7 System Leadership Study”, which was conducted in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, United Kingdom, and Russia. The research investigates instructional leadership practices of principals and its link with principal preparation programs. Russian part of the research was conducted in four regions of Russia with 300 principals. The study has shown the focus of principal preparation programs on administrative and financial issues, and a missing attention to instructional leadership in those programs.
