Session Type: Symposium
In 2010, the US Department of Education awarded an Investing in Innovation (i3) grant to the KIPP network of charter schools to “scale up” the number of schools, grade levels, and students it serves. This panel addresses a key research question: does KIPP maintain its demonstrated effectiveness as it scales? Using multiple research methods, the papers in this panel provide the first rigorous research on KIPP elementary and high schools; an evaluation of the impacts of KIPP middle schools over time; and a closer examination of the leadership practices implemented by the most successful KIPP schools.
