Session Type: Symposium
Today’s youth and their educators navigate many formal and informal learning spaces, which are often treated as separate domains in educational research. This interactive session brings together seven scholars who specialize in digital media and learning and conduct research with youth and educators in formal and informal preK-16 educational spaces. Two of the presenters will discuss their papers that focus on teacher learning, one on learning interactions between teachers and students, and two on student learning. The presenters and facilitators will engage the session participants in developing strategies for using technology to blur conceptual, ideological, and structural boundaries between educational spaces. This discussion will provide the opportunity to re-imagine how technology can contribute to learning and engagement across learning spaces.
