This panel seeks to explore the types of instructional innovations necessary to ensure that bilingualism is framed as a resource, as opposed to a barrier, for learning in the era of the CCSS. Beginning from the premise that bilingualism should be seen as beneficial for learning and that there should be opportunities for students to engage in bilingual language practices, the major goal of this panel is to examine and prioritize bilingual pedagogical approaches in the era of the CCSS.
