Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will bring together an international group of scholars who research historical consciousness and collective memory. The panelists have conducted research in diverse locales where historical narratives are hotly contested. The presentations will focus on connecting concerns emerging from the scholarship of historical consciousness with the K-12 history curricula. In particular, each presentation will discuss the possibilities of including how history is used by social and political groups as a subject for K-12 history curricula.
