Session Type: Symposium
This symposium presents effects of nonformal and informal learning environments in educational research: (1) data from the French study “Etude Longitudinal Francaise depuis l’Enfance (ELFE)” are employed to take a closer look at effects of parents’ social abilities and the degree of their social relations on child development during the first year of life; (2) drawing on data from “Growing up in Australia: The Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC)” the relationship between different forms of home-based parent involvement and children’s self regulated learning during the early years of schooling is analyzed; and—last but not least (3) the 5th graders cohort from the German “National Educational Panel Study (NEPS)” is used to analyze heterogeneity in practicing sports.
