Session Type: Symposium
This session will present and explore core areas of international research in and about mathematics education in low-income contexts, highlighting the particular challenges faced in these environments and approaches that have been developed and used in an attempt to address these challenges. The session will examine research from policy to classroom interactions, including system-level and classroom-based assessment, teacher knowledge and learning, teacher initiated curriculum adaptations, and recommendations for future research. The papers and the concluding discussion will include reflection on cross-context learning that can arise from this growing body of research.
