Session Type: Symposium
This panel, with its innovative format, will explore New Materialism from a variety of contexts and perspectives including community arts, museums, and contemporary art. Embracing experimental methods of presentation, each paper will be presented by a team of participants, one human and at least one more-than-human actant. These more than human presenters will range from museum objects to recycled/reused materials to images of contemporary works of art. As such, audience members will have an opportunity to consider and engage the being-ness of the more than human in practical and tangible ways. In this sense, we will not simply discuss new materialist pedagogical philosophy so much as enact it.
