Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will present collaborative inquiry initiatives created at central levels of government utilizing local school districts to drive or scale up reforms into classrooms and schools. Collaborative inquiry has been shown to be an effective means to both professional learning and to enhance student learning (Comber, 2013; Hannay, Wideman & Seller, 2010; Timperley & Lee, 2008). The Ontario Ministry of Education has generated understandings of wide-scale implementation within a system improvement strategy through both internal and external research, monitoring and evaluations activities. The presentations will illustrate the partnerships, research findings, challenges and considerations in implementing collaborative inquiry initiatives to provide additional support in addressing diversity and equity issues and target students who are at risk of not succeeding.
