Session Type: Symposium
This symposium focuses on the relationship between teacher leadership and social change and the relevance of this to the achievement of inclusive and diverse societies, regardless of the socio-economic status or cultural background of students. The role of teachers as agents of change, their sense of moral purpose and their professional development are at the core of this proposal. From an international perspective, the papers discuss four different and complementary topics about teachers improving schools through the participation of cultural minorities: 1) the non-positional approach to teacher leadership 2) teachers leading transformation in multi-ethnic contexts in several European countries 3) the impact of teacher leadership on Roma empowerment, and 4) teachers and Moroccan mothers leading change beyond the school walls.
