Session Type: Symposium
Policy mobilities approaches suggest that the flow of policy is variegated and complex – the movement of a policy from one entity or region to another is likely to be only in part and taken up in unique ways depending on other policies and priorities in the local context, rather than allowing for the replication of a policy in full. A variegated understanding of policy movement requires a more nuanced approach to researching policy uptake and enactment, and drives different research questions and methods. This symposium will share considerations raised by empirical research on policy mobilities including in relation to mobility and policy mutations, territoriality and materiality, and political and ethical questions of difference, sovereignty, and accountability in policy research.
