This session will present three innovative tools currently being developed and used to measure social and emotional learning competencies and will provide an introduction to the wealth of new technological innovations being applied to the field of socio-emotional measurement. The presentation will begin with a paper that provides an overview of technological innovations in measuring social and emotional learning (SEL) skills. This paper will set the groundwork for the following presentations of specific instruments that have been developed for assessing SEL in diverse contexts, including one in the United States and two in Africa.
