The study used multilevel analysis to determine the impact of school-level factors on the postsecondary enrollment (PSE) of English language learners (ELLs). A sample of 2,238 students whose native language was not English was created from ELS:2002. The study found that teacher's high expectations of student positively contributed to PSE in 4-year institutions. Furthermore, the type of school was significant in the PSE of ELLs. However, the effects of many variables that were significant to the enrollment at 4-year institutions were not significant to 2-year institutions.
