Fri, April 8, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Room 154 B

Abstract

The purpose of this international research was to examine effective leadership practices across cultures. Specifically, the study examined leadership practices and the influence of culture on practices of educational leaders from Kenya and the United States. Kouzes and Posner’s (2002) conceptual framework was used to examine effective leadership practices, while the cultural intelligence conceptual framework developed by Earley and Ang (2003) was utilized to assess the influence of culture on effective leadership. The results have implications for leadership in higher education regarding cultural competencies for leaders across the globe.
