Validating Pediatric Symptoms Checklist–17 in a New Population

Sun, April 10, 8:15 to 9:45am, Convention Center, Floor: Level One, Room 143 A

Abstract

The purpose of this study is: (1) to investigate the underlying latent structure and cut-off scores of a teacher-rated screening form (PSC-17) for use in early elementary schools. Participants were 522 children from Grades One and Two. Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling was suggested to identify the optimal factor solution. Results indicated that the PSC-17 has three dimensions: Internalizing problems, Externalizing problems, and Attention problems. The cut-off score validation will be conducted based on the ESEM results. Correctly identifying the PSC-17’s factor structure and cut-off scores in a new environment can be extended this use of this scale to the schools and possibly provides an option for the behavioral and emotional Reponses to Intervention programs with young children.
