University Within School: A University-School Partnership Model to Restructure Teacher Education

Abstract

Technological progress, information age, globalization and increasing cultural diversity of communities have affected all aspects of education including teacher education. The goal of this study is to develop a new model of teacher education based on university-school partnership. The study is undertaken through the review, analysis and interpretation of empirical and theoretical studies regarding the education of teachers in the USA and around the world. A seven dimensional model of teacher education, which is called UNIVERSITY WITHIN SCHOOL is designed through the analysis, synthesis, and conceptualization of the findings. The components of the new model are: (1) Conceptual framework, (2) Curriculum, (3) Method, (4) Faculty, (5) Teacher candidates, (6) Partnership, and (7) Leadership.
