University faculty and Pueblo School District leaders have worked together to provide access to teaching credentialing through University licensure programs. This “Pueblo-gown” partnership has been quite successful, with 30 Pueblo members taking classes toward licensure, and 60 participating in professional development workshops to improve their teaching.
Why has this partnership been so successful? What are the lessons learned in order for more Tribal Communities and Universities to work together to improve the numbers of Tribal members teaching in their own communities?
In this study, we are interviewing 15 co-researchers who have been integral in this partnership to determine the elements present to result in such success. The co-researchers include Tribal District Leaders, Tribal participants, University faculty, and University administrators.
