The current study proposes a simple but efficient method to estimate test performance for multistage testing (MST). The method (called MST test information) predicts the measurement precision of MST without laborious actual simulation studies. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the MST test information, we compared the standard errors driven analytically to those obtained from simulation. The results showed that MST test information is an effective method for predicting the test performance in the MST format. We argue that the proposed method is more accurate than conventional simulation methods. Furthermore, we believe that the MST test information is a useful tool for validating various design elements of MST.
