Aesthetical Biographies in Teacher Training: A Key to Professional Development

Abstract

Since the creation in 2005-2006 of the Bachelor of Educational Science (BScE), the university of (European country)puts a strong emphasize on the development of the students' reflexivity by implementing a professional development portfolio within the training program. Multiplying the means of expression became a "Leitmotiv" for the developers of the approach. Students were led to adopt, at the same time as scientific writing, aesthetic ways of expression to enrich their personal and professional reflexion. As aesthetical and biographical research is central, our presentation will focus on aesthetical biography. After introducing the theoretical foundations of the approach, we will elaborate on the principles and discuss the contributions of such a work for the professional development of BScE students.
