In this roundtable presentation, we map multimethod and mixed methods research (MMMR) designs in education and learning research using social network analysis. For this, we review and code MMMR studies in this research domain that were published in the last 20 years. We then use social network analysis to study how researchers sequenced qualitative and quantitative methods of data collection and data analysis. This work extends and complements previous theorizing on MMMR research designs and the empirical work done by Bryman (2006). The unique perspective taken in this research allows a flexible yet thorough discussion of MMMR designs in education and learning research. Next to stimulating the debate, this can serve as an accessible starting point for novice researchers.
