We use a comprehensive database of teacher application data from Wisconsin to examine the job preferences of teachers with no experience. We examine both whether these preferences vary by teacher education credentials and over their time on the labor market and if credentials and job search behaviors predict success. Overall, we find that teachers apply to job openings in districts with low percentages of students eligible for free/reduced price lunch and students who are Limited English Proficient and low percentages of minority students.
