Ensuring Quality Online Education: Analysis of 90 Online Course Designs

Sun, April 30, 8:15 to 9:45am, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 3

Abstract

This study investigated to determine the online course design elements that positively affect student online course satisfaction. A total 90 online courses were reviewed by the course checklist developed based on Quality Matter rubric. The results show that several elements (i.e., the number of modules and assignments, announcement page, standalone schedule page, and rubric and feedback) influenced online course satisfaction. The findings provide practical implications to online course designers, and we will discuss more details about the checklist and following studies.
