As demographics in the United States rapidly change, it is critical that Latino males obtain a college education, as they have persistently been underrepresented in college enrollment. Additionally, Latino males are more likely to drop out and not complete their college education due to a variety of factors. Among these include the need to work to support their families and lack of Latino male role models on college campuses. This paper focuses on how these two factors contribute to keeping Latino males from successfully completing their college education and examines their impact on Latino male retention on college and university campuses across the nation.
