This paper applies an analytical approach with visual representations to better understand the shifts in scientific discourse and interpretation of complex patterns between participants and facilitators of citizen science projects. In this study, we examine participants’ conceptual changes of two citizen science projects in order to explore scientific knowledge and practices through the development of concept mapping with the use of Collaborative Science, including a set of online resources to facilitate science engagement and collaboration. The findings suggest that Collaborative Science is a useful platform that allows participants and facilitators to collaboratively engage in scientific topics and practices through the development of scientific discourse and learning.
