Mon, May 1, 12:25 to 1:55pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Hemisfair Ballroom 1

Abstract

The Department of Education mission is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering education excellence and ensuring equal access. School-level finance data provides reliable and unbiased measures that allow for comparison of how resources are distributed among schools within local districts.

The School-Level Finance Survey (SLFS) is an extension of two collections being conducted by NCES in collaboration with the Census Bureau: the School District Finance Survey (F-33) and the state-level National Public Education Financial Survey (NPEFS).

Research questions:
• What is the association between of the percentage of students in poverty and school expenditures across and within districts?
• What is the association between geographic location (urbanicity) and school expenditures across and within districts?
