Critical Hybrid Pedagogies: An Self-Study Inquiry Into Faculty Practices in a Blended Educational Leadership Ed.D. Program

Abstract

The paper builds on an initial action research cycle which investigated student experiences in blended courses offered over one quarter. From this previous inquiry, we established a baseline of students’ experiences with our hybrid practices and coursework. In this paper, we—three EdD faculty members—discuss a self-study inquiry buiding on the previous project anf focusing on investigating our own practices as we enact hybrid pedagogies aimed at fostering critical orientations and knowledge for educational leaders to work to combat historical inequalities within their contexts. Our study is guided by the following question: How do three educational leadership faculty members construct hybrid pedagogies that support the development of increasingly critical understandings for students?
