Institutional Isomorphism and Historically Black Colleges and Universities

Sun, April 30, 4:05 to 6:05pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: River Level, Room 6A

Abstract

The purpose of this manuscript is to demonstrate how an organizational analysis of Historically Black Colleges and Universities can improve our understanding of the challenges to Black student achievement in STEM. We interview 10 HBCUs presidents and draw upon institutional isomorphism to highlight the inequities experienced by HBCUs in the broader competition for STEM success.
