The Effect of Different Propensity Score Distributions on the Performance of Propensity Score Weighting

Thu, April 27, 4:05 to 5:35pm, Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, Floor: River Level, Room 7C

Abstract

Propensity score (PS) weighting is one of the commonly used PS matching methods. The distribution of propensity scores, which is closely associated with the PS weights, could possibly affect the performance of PS weighting. The goal of this proposed study is to evaluate the relation between the relative PS distributions of the treated and control groups and the performance of PS weighting. Our preliminary results show that larger differences in PS distributions between the two groups are more likely to decrease the accuracy and the precision of the treatment effect.
