Session Type: Symposium
The current state of globalization requires theory to work in new ways in terms of educational research. The Anthropocene, global migrations, and the divisive politics of one world capitalism, represent a convergent situation, in which educational research presents an increasingly vital fulcrum. This symposium will critically interrogate the new materialisms and post humanism for a way forward to understand social justice education. On one side of the equation are increasingly urgent global environmental concerns, that act as compelling evidence for new thinking around ethical conduct in educational research. On the other side, is the complex political context in which educational research needs to find ‘a new voice’ in order to be taken seriously as a viable change mechanism.
