Session Type: Working Group Roundtable
This session is proposed as a working group roundtable in which the chair has invited known researchers who have conducted studies on the topic of assistant school principals. The session organizer has the following objectives: 1) to bring together individuals from the U.S. and Canada who have conducted research on assistant principals from multiple perspectives and with varied methodologies; 2) to identify common issues of “middle space” (Armstrong, 2010, p. 210 ) school leadership; and 3) discuss the formation of a consortium of researchers that would create an organized research agenda going forward. The group will propose next steps in research that will add to the thin body of literature on assistant principals.
