52.067 - Language and Social Processes SIG Annual Research Mentoring Session and Methods Workshop: Approaches to Re-Presenting Rich, Multimodal, and Multimedia Data

Abstract

This session is meant to encourage cross-“generational” dialogue within the LSP SIG. The workshop will begin with a 40-minute discussion—open to anyone who would like to attend—led by two emerging scholars about the adventures of re-presenting rich, multimodal and/or multimedia data in print publications. An LSP member who serves as editor for a journal that allows innovative ways of representing data will act as discussant. The session will then continue with an 80-minute paired mentoring session in which LSP graduate students or early-career scholars meet and discuss a piece of their work with more senior LSP scholar-mentors with whom they have been matched in advance of the conference.
