Session Type: Symposium
This symposium addresses the conference theme by considering the two parts of that charge: moving knowledge into action and achieving equal educational opportunity. Achieving equality in educational opportunity has proven not only elusive for much of the world but also remarkably impervious to current approaches. Sustained multi-professional teams would seem a logical improvement on the current practice of serial siloed professional interventions. This symposium is organized to consider cross-professional methods of moving knowledge into action to achieve a range of social goals and the role that professions educators might play. Perspectives from the professions of the military, design, ethics and psychology consider the possibilities of organizing professional education, research and work differently.
