Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will present a compilation of independent studies aimed at providing empirical research that substantiates best practices in mentoring transitional educators throughout their educational journey. The literature is sparse relating to career mentoring in education, including teacher education and educational administration. That is, while in education, many educators change positions throughout their careers. From grade level teaching changes, to leadership positions, to administration; to support personnel such as physical educators, counselors, and media specialists, changes abound for education professionals. Though there are isolated anecdotal accounts that these transitions may facilitate some mentoring, there is lack of empirical research to support the effective elements embedded in these programs. This session is designed to add to the literature on this topic.
