Session Type: Symposium
The objective of this symposium is to demonstrate the value of intensive data approaches, which require repeated measures of a target construct on a daily or momentary basis. Participating researchers will employ a variety of intensive data approaches (i.e., daily longitudinal research, experience sampling methods) to address questions regarding daily and momentarily fluctuating emotions, motivation, and engagement. In particular, the papers will focus on contributions of intensive data approaches above and beyond or in conjunction with traditional longitudinal assessments. Furthermore, researchers will address innovative questions regarding the links between daily and momentary emotions and engagement to students’ motivation (e.g., goals, need satisfaction) and classroom instructional activities using intensive data approaches.
