Session Type: Symposium
This session provides a close look at several emerging federal policies intended to exert influence on teachers and teaching with particular emphasis on implications for equity. A policy trend in recent decades has witnessed a dramatic expansion of the federal role coupled with an emphasis on teachers as the critical in-school resource for children’s learning. We need to better understand the implications of this trend based on analysis and policy feedback. This symposium contributes to this goal through a careful examination of the most recent policy developments at the federal level bearing on the issues associated with the teacher workforce.
