Session Type: Workshop
This interactive workshop is geared toward PhD candidates, newly minted scholars, and novice researchers. Productive scholarly writing can be daunting to individuals beginning a tenure track trajectory. Creating new opportunities and experiencing mentoring across multiple communities of scholars de-mystifyies academic writing. Employing PechaKucha-inspired mini-workshops, a team of established scholars representing assistant, associate, and full professors will mentor and guide participants. If we want the academy to equalize opportunity, we must provide methods of expanding doctoral candidates, novice researchers, and newly minted scholars’ writing beyond the dissertation committee. We will promote and foster a sense of community among attendees, demonstrate practices that have proven successful, and share our learnings and perspectives about writing up scholarly research for publication.
