Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together educational studies that investigate teaching and teacher education practices in the borderlands, exploring the intersection of issues of language, cultural diversity, social justice and transnational communities. Specifically, the presenters signal relevant dimensions of what may constitute borderland pedagogies with an inclusive social practice approach while considering the interconnections of theory and practice, and illustrating the multiple and fluid contexts of teaching and teacher education in the borderlands. The papers presented in this symposium address learning to teach within the social, cultural, linguistic, political and economic context of the US/Mexico borderlands.
