Session Type: Symposium
The global demand for masters-trained health professionals has grown. To meet the demand, master of health professions education (MHPE) degree programs have multiplied. Today, there are more than 121 such programs. Despite this international proliferation, we know little about the best practices of successful programs. The purpose of this symposium is twofold: (1) to share best practices for developing and maintaining a successful MHPE degree program, and (2) to critically analyze and debate the value of such programs to the improvement of health education and research. The ultimate goal is to achieve better shared understanding of the organizational structures and guiding principles of MHPE degree programs, and to critically debate their unique contributions to the education and research enterprise.
