Session Type: Symposium
The edTPA is a rapidly evolving and complex force in teacher preparation that threatens equity at all levels of teacher education. This symposium is designed to confront and resist these threats by presenting four papers focusing on the influence of the edTPA at the statewide, program, and candidate level. Our objective is to illuminate and analyze the challenges to equity presented by edTPA. We provide a broad and thorough analysis of the threat to equity presented by the edTPA nationally. Through the dissemination of research findings, and the sharing of the experiences of teacher educators openly resisting the implementation of the edTPA, we hope to deepen the conversation among teacher educators regarding the threats to equity presented by the edTPA.
