Session Type: Roundtable Session
Exploring learning opportunities from middle school to college, from virtual to physical spaces, four presenters emphasize the transformative elements of context in student learning. Collectively, they promote interdisciplinary research agendas that imagine local and global communities as classrooms, where students and educators gain access to innovative learning materials and engage with ideas, cultures, and beliefs that are different than their own. Within the intersectional spaces of these studies, the researchers ask, “who has access to these kinds of learning experiences” and “how do these opportunities prepare students and future educators for diverse, interdependent, global societies?”
