Session Type: Symposium
This interactive symposium considers the past, present, and future of the field of educational change from multinational, intergenerational perspectives. Historical and current trends are addressed through analyses of key forums including The Journal of Educational Change, www.internationalednews.com, and AERA’s “Lead the Change” series. Collectively, findings indicate topics on which the field focuses or remains largely silent while acknowledging the challenge and desirability of incorporating diverse perspectives. Finally, the symposium will build upon these studies, utilizing an analysis of complications encountered by reform initiatives in order to launch a discussion of the future of the field with direction for maintaining the relevancy of research and practice in educational change.
