In this paper set, we examine the critical intersections of pedagogy and research methodologies that value youths’ whole lives in how/why/in what ways youth engage with and in STEM. We use varying conceptual frames to investigate the critical intersections of pedagogy and research methodologies across spaces and over time to identify powered boundaries of informal/formal, novice/expert, and past/present and future that affect youth and their STEM engagement. Through this work, we investigate the ways in which research and pedagogy can be a part of, and be transformed by youths lives and their communities.
