Session Type: Workshop
This workshop session will introduce participants to comics-based research (CBR), the use of the comics form--panels, word balloons, images and text, sound effects--to conduct and present educational research and theory. Participants will learn about the defining characteristics of this approach and the affordances comics have for communicating scholarship. Examples of published work from many disciplines will be shown to illustrate the concepts. Even more, participants will spend the majority of the session doing exercises that demonstrate the powerful uses of the comics form for their scholarly work.
