Session Type: Symposium
With increasing pressure of standardization, zero tolerance policies, and high-stakes testing, education’s power to help create meaningful experiences for students has been lost. Deep learning integrates all aspects for developing the whole human being, to help students develop in myriad ways so that they can become active members of society, and for their well-being in this world. This symposium connects elements of teaching and learning that are integral to teaching to and from the whole person. Deep learning encompasses deep living, seeing, reading of the wor(l)d, remembering, and dialoguing.
Deep Reading: Knowing the Self and Understanding Others - Maureen Patricia Hall, University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth

Deep Dialogues of Spiritualities and Beings: Dialectical Prism of Student and Teacher Socioemotional Needs - Elizabeth Janson, University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth
Deep Living: The Art, Science, and Soul of Transformative Classrooms - Vajra M. Watson, University of California - Davis
