Session Type: Invited Speaker Session
This session, organized by the Division J Committee on Diversity and Inclusion, focuses on discussion and collaboration related to emerging topics in higher education. Professor Ana M. Martinez-Alemán will facilitate a short panel discussion on "Higher Education Research In the Era of Trump." Invited scholars will provide brief introductory commentary as way to frame how higher education researchers and scholars might think about and design research given Presidential politics. Then, roundtable discussions will be facilitated by the panelists on the following topics: Bathroom bills, sanctuary campuses, state and federal legal challenges to immigration and civil rights, equity and race conscious institutional practices, and the role of social science data.
