Abstract

The panel will employ a multigenerational framework of a diverse group of Texas-associated scholars. They will reflect on how growing up in Texas has shaped their scholarly identity and research agenda on issues of educational equity. Key discussion questions will include: 1) What were scholars' motivations to do work focused on issues of educational equity – as a result of growing up in Texas. 2) What has been the progress of scholars over time to inform state and local policy in Texas? 3) What recommendations would scholar give for improving higher education opportunities in Texas for all students but particularly those that are underserved?
