Abstract

This session will provide a comprehensive and authoritative overview of Indigenous research in the field of education. This project draws from a decolonizing framework and principles of working with Indigenous peoples, and informed and deepened by a wide network of researchers working with Indigenous communities around the world. We will bring together various streams of Indigenous education research and initiatives that have used multiple methods. This paper draws a ‘road map’ across the education corpus of work that Indigenous scholars and communities have produced over the last 40 years. The session is designed to assist in designing and framing the state of thinking, research and practice in Indigenous education for the next decade.
