Abstract

Dewey viewed communication and community as interwoven and instrumental to a democratic society. The influence of social media and advancements of communication media in contemporary society will be examined through a Deweyan lens by the presenters in this session. Dewey's "Media Theory" will be revisited in relation to the new media shaping society.
